Underground Railroad in the Lakewood/Rocky River Area

We discussed the topic of northern Ohio being one of the last stopping places in the Underground Railroad. This was the last refuge place for slaves to find freedom in Canada. This made me wonder where these places of refugee might be located at today. These places are an important part of American history and we should acknowledge these locations and the former properties owners. How many homes, secret passageways, tunnels, or relatives are still located in northern Ohio? You can drive down Lake Road and see hundreds of historical homes dating back to the days of slavery in the United States.  How many of these homes were used to liberate slaves to freedom? Why weren’t all of these homes used to help slaves? One of these locations might have been the mouth of Rocky River located between Rocky River and Lakewood, Ohio. As stated in the attached article, “The mouth of Rocky River was one of many places where the former slaves were taken to wait for the boats.”
