so, it’s come out recently that the beatles have a contract that specifically said that they would not play to a segregated crowd. i’m not a beatles fan myself, too much hype, but in 1964 that was a huge step forward for race relations. but that brings up two questions in my mind. how many black folks in 1964 really wanted to go see the beatles and if the beatles were that progressive and forward thinking back then why didn’t the publically anounce this clause to the general public? if they would have simply took this cause to their fans, maybe more people would have civil rights and equality.
