Cuban-Americans

The article of New York Times published on November 21, 2011 regarding the US-Cuban Relations and its effect on the lives of both the Cuban-American and the Cubas is very positive.  The article emphasized the value of family relationship among the Cubans.  How they are always in contact with their family back in their country despite of some limitations.  As we are always talking about race and ethnic relations, these Cubans who came here in the 1960s and 1990s were accepted by this country with open arms.   They may be a minority group the same as others, but they become prosperous in their lives and become an influential minority group particularly in Miami.  I think this is a very good example of how one group can excel with the privileges that the dominant group also offers.  As the relationship of these two countries continue to impove, so are the relationships between the Cuban-Americans and the Cubans.

I read that article also and that exatly what I mentioned in class. When people from other countries immigrate here, they do well because of the amount of resources available to them to work with. These people are used to living with low resources and struggling through life and when they get here they prosper because of all thats available to them. Even though with discrimination and other factors involving some limitations to how far they can go, they still do much better than some of those that are born here and have everything available to them but don’t use it.
