Race And The Election

Four years ago our nation elected its first African American president. The last election brought a lot of controversy because we didn’t know if our country was ready for a black president. But none the less President Obama was elected and it showed that our nation was taking a step in the right direction along the lines of race. As the 2012 election approaches, race isn’t nearly as big an issue and more people are voting the candidates based on the issues at hand and not the color of their skin. Hopefully the 2008 election showed our country that we can overcome the racial barrier and future generations will not look at the color of a persons skin as an issue.

One Response to Race And The Election

I do agree that the nation took a huge step in the right direction when President Obama was elected, but we still have a very long way to go. I work with a girl and she is half black and half white just like President Obama. She is a very intelligent young woman, but there are still times that she will play the race card. If she gets upset about something, she will say the black almost came out of me. That right there is a problem that the blacks dont seem to mind using the race card when it benefits them. You would never hear a white person say, the white almost came out of me.
